IGBO UNION ESSEX AND SUFFOLK (IRIJI 2025)

JIRIJI, also known as the New Yam Festival, is a cultural celebration among the Igbo people of Nigeria, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle. The festival involves feasting, traditional dances, masquerades, music, and various cultural displays. It is a significant event that unites the community and celebrates their agricultural heritage. The Iriji festival is a way to thank the gods for a successful harvest and to usher in a new farming season. It is a time for the Igbo people to come together, express gratitude, and celebrate their cultural identity.
